Grand Space Opera: Light Age

This was a challenge ran by Artstation in early 2021.
I participated in the Production Prop art competition, which allowed for the use of concept art from the concept art phase of the competition.
However, I didn't use any concept art, and instead focused on creating my own assets from scratch.

The pieces I created are an exploration Drone, an optical Long Rifle, and a Starship.

The Starship I modeled is the ACSS - 3 Osprey. It is a light exploration craft commissioned by the ACS (Allied Cartographic Society) and manufactured by IOI (Inter-Orbital Inc.).

The ship uses procedural texturing to randomize the colour and metalness of the pipes across the surface. The thrusters' plumes are also completely procedural.

The Drone is a simple exploration device. Designed to reach places that a Starship or it's occupant couldn't, and for exploring dangerous anomalies remotely. The drone model uses only one 4k texture set and mirrors the left and right side of the drone, with a unique face-plate UV that allows a small patch on it's face-plate to hide the symmetry.

The Optical Long-Rifle is a sniper rifle created for the three fingered-two thumbed hands of the humanoid Ennuan race. It charges up, and as it does so the top and bottom rails are held apart by an energy field while the interior rings spin freely.

I also animated this weapon firing, just for fun.
